Introduction

Sofar HY D hybrid inverters feature a multifunction communication port (often called COM), essential for intelligent management of batteries, meters and supervision modules. Correct connection of this port ensures optimal system operation.

What is the multifunction port for?

This 16-pin port enables :

• RS485 communication with an energy meter
• RS485 or CAN communication with an intelligent battery
• Cascade connection between several inverters
• Monitoring via external dongle

Example of use

• Counter (e.g. DTSU666) ➝ RS485A2 (PIN 5) and RS485B2 (PIN 6)
• Sofar BTS battery ➝ CANO_H (PIN 7) and CANO_L (PIN 8)

BMS

• RS485 (Pylontech) ➝ 485TXO+ (PIN 10) and 485TXO- (PIN 11)

The port automatically detects whether the battery is communicating via CAN or RS485.

Installation instructions

• Use original or certified connectors to guarantee watertightness (IP65
• )
• Respect A+/B- polarities in RS485
• Use a 120Ω RS485 termination if the cable exceeds 50 m
• Never manually feed the VCC pin (PIN 16)
