SUN-10-12K-SG02-LP1-EU

220A charging current: the battery charges at top speed

The maximum charge and discharge current of 220A is this product’s most remarkable feature — and the highest in the entire wattuneed.com catalogue. On a 48V battery, this represents a charging power of 10,560 W, i.e. the inverter’s full rated power entirely dedicated to battery charging if necessary. In practical terms:

  • A 48V 10 kWh battery charges in under an hour with abundant solar production
  • Charging from the grid during off-peak hours is ultra-fast
  • Discharge is powerful enough to cover all simultaneous consumption peaks in a large house

3 independent MPPT trackers, 6 strings: maximum flexibility

With 3 independent MPPT trackers, each comprising 2 strings (6 physical inputs in total, 25A each, range 150–425V, max 500V), the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU can manage up to 6 different strings completely independently:

  • 3 different roof orientations (south, east, west or any combination) without cross-shading loss
  • Up to 20,000 Wp of connectable panels — approximately 40 to 50 panels of 400–500 Wp
  • Optimal management of partial shading thanks to independent MPPT
  • Ideal for L-shaped roofs, houses with multiple exposed sides, or installations combining a main building and outbuildings

20 kW peak power in backup mode

In the event of a grid outage with a 48V battery connected, the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU delivers 20 kW for 10 seconds — twice its rated power. This is sufficient to simultaneously start up the most power-hungry equipment on a large property or in a small business.

Battery compatibility: all 48V lithium or lead-acid batteries

Like the entire Deye 48V range, the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU is compatible with almost all 48V batteries on the market:

Technology Voltage Compatible examples
Lithium-ion LiFePO4 48V (40–60V) Pylontech US5000, DeLong Top Energy, Leapton EL-A05
Lead-acid GEL/AGM 48V Standard 48V batteries

BMS communication: RS485, RS232 and CAN — auto-adaptation to lithium BMS.

What this inverter actually does

  • It converts solar energy into 230V AC electricity with a maximum efficiency of 97.6% (EU 96.5%, MPPT 99%)
  • It stores surplus energy in the 48V battery at a current of 220A
  • It switches to backup mode during a grid outage with a peak output of 20 kW for 10 seconds
  • It feeds surplus energy back into the grid (France, Luxembourg)

With 30 to 40 panels (15 to 20 kWp) and a 10 to 30 kWh battery, a large house or small business can achieve 72 to 87% self-consumption, representing an estimated saving of between €1,500 and €3,000 per year.

What is the difference between the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU and the SUN-6K-SG05LP1-EU?
The SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU delivers 10,000 W compared to 6,000 W for the SUN-6K-SG05LP1-EU, representing 67% more power. It has 3 MPPT trackers (6 physical strings, 2 per MPPT) compared to 2 MPPT trackers for the 6K, and can accommodate up to 20 kWp of solar panels compared to 12 kWp. Its maximum battery charge/discharge current reaches 220 A, making it suitable for large homes consuming over 8,000 kWh/year, installations with multiple roof orientations, or small businesses. For a standard family home, the SUN-6K is often sufficient; the SUN-10K is recommended if you have high evening consumption or plan to charge an electric vehicle.
Why can’t the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU be installed as a single-phase system in Belgium?
In Belgium, network operators (Fluvius, ORES, Sibelga) impose a limit on the power fed into the grid via a single-phase connection. With a maximum AC output of 11,000 VA, the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU exceeds the authorised threshold for a standard single-phase residential connection. This inverter is therefore intended for the French, Dutch, Luxembourgish, Spanish and German markets. For installation in Belgium, we recommend the SUN-6K-SG05LP1-EU (6,000 W), which complies with Belgian limits, or a three-phase solution using the Sofar ESI or HYD inverters.
Which batteries are compatible with the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU?
The SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU operates at 48V low voltage (actual range 40–60 V) and is compatible with 48V LiFePO4 lithium batteries with a communication-enabled BMS (RS485/CAN) such as the Pylontech US5000 (4.8 kWh), DeLong Top Energy (5.12 or 15 kWh) and Leapton EL-A05 (5.12 kWh), as well as 48V lead-acid batteries. Thanks to its maximum charge and discharge current of 220 A, it can fully utilise battery banks of up to several dozen kWh. Automatic adaptation to the BMS ensures optimal management of cell lifespan, regardless of the brand chosen from among the compatible models.
What are the advantages of the 3 MPPT trackers and 6 string inputs on the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU?
The SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU features 3 fully independent MPPT trackers, each with 2 strings (6 physical inputs in total), for a maximum PV power of 20 kWp. This design allows panels to be installed on 3 different orientations or roofs (east, south, west) without any loss of efficiency between the groups. The MPPT range of 150 to 425 V and the maximum PV input voltage of 500 V offer great flexibility in string wiring. MPPT efficiency exceeds 99%, ensuring maximum extraction of solar energy regardless of sunlight levels.
What is the purpose of the 20 kW peak power for 10 seconds?
The SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU is capable of delivering double its rated power — i.e. 20,000 W — for 10 seconds. This peak power capacity is essential for starting electric motors with high inrush currents: swimming pool pumps, compressors, air conditioners, heat pumps or professional power tools. Without this power reserve, the inverter would shut down during start-up peaks. This is a key selling point for homes with numerous motorised appliances, farms or small craft businesses.
Is the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU compatible with a generator?
Yes, the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU features a dedicated generator input as standard. In the event of a prolonged grid outage or flat batteries (rural areas, remote regions, holiday homes), a diesel or petrol generator can take over and simultaneously recharge the batteries via the inverter. This feature is particularly valuable in regions with low winter sunlight or for off-grid installations. The transition between the grid, solar, battery and generator is automatic and without any interruption to the power supply.
How can you monitor and optimise the SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU on a daily basis?
The SUN-10K-SG02LP1-EU is compatible with Deye monitoring platforms via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, 4G or LAN (depending on the option selected), with BMS communication via RS485/RS232/CAN. It supports the Deye Copilot EMS, the first AI energy intelligence solution for Deye inverters, which automatically optimises energy flows based on off-peak/peak tariffs, weather conditions and your consumption habits. Advanced features include peak shaving (reducing consumption peaks), Time of Use (scheduling charging according to grid tariffs), and smart charging. Firmware updates are carried out remotely, without the need for on-site visits.
