FAQ - Steel Roof Fixing Kit

1. How does this system attach to my steel roof? +
The system uses high-performance RP-T2 self-tapping screws. These screws are specially designed to drill directly through thin sheet metal without producing chips, ensuring a direct, quick and extremely secure fixing of the aluminium rails onto the corrugations of the steel roofing.
2. What is the difference between centre clamps and end clamps? +
End clamps are used to secure the outer edges of your solar array (the panels at the ends). Mid-span clamps, on the other hand, are placed between two panels to hold them together on the rail. This is why the number of mid-span clamps increases with the number of panels, whilst the number of end clamps remains at 4 per row.
3. Why are Rayvolt earthing clips included? +
Safety is paramount. Rayvolt clips ensure electrical continuity between the panels and the aluminium structure. They enable effective earthing of the entire installation, thereby protecting your system against electrical hazards.
4. Is it easy to install this kit yourself? +
Yes, this system has been designed for ultra-simple handling. The components are minimalist and assembly requires very few tools. As the rail is fixed directly to the sheet metal, installation is much quicker than on traditional hook-mounted roofs.
5. How do I know if there will be enough materials for my project? +
We have created a detailed table (see the ‘Materials Details’ section) which automatically adjusts the number of rails, screws and clips based on the number of panels you choose. Simply select your number of panels to receive a complete, ready-to-install kit.
