The MultiPlus-II is a multi-functional inverter/charger with all the features of the MultiPlus, plus an optional external current sensor to increase the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions to 50 A and 100 A respectively. The MultiPlus-II is ideal for professional marine installations, with sailboats, vehicles and off-grid land systems.
It is also equipped with an anti-islanding system, and has a long and growing list of certifications for many countries for ESS applications. Several system configurations are possible. For more information, consult the ESS System Design and Installation manual.
It is possible to set a maximum current for the generator or network. The MultiPlus-II then takes account of other AC loads and will only use the excess for the load, thus avoiding any overloading of the mains or generator supply (PowerControl function).
The PowerAssist function adds an extra dimension to the PowerControl principle If a high peak power demand is often required for a short period, the MultiPlus-II will compensate for the lack of power from the generator, shore power or grid with energy from the battery. And when demand falls, the surplus power is used to recharge the batteries.
The MultiPlus-II can be used both off-grid and connected to a PV grid or other alternative energy systems. It is compatible with both solar charge controllers and grid-connected converters.
The main output has an uninterrupted power supply function. In the event of grid failure or disconnection of shore power or generator power, the MultiPlus-II takes over the supply of connected loads. This transfer is so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that the operation of connected computers or other sensitive electronic equipment will not be disrupted.
The second output is only energized when AC power is available at the MultiPlus-II input. Loads that would not discharge the battery, such as a water heater, can be connected to this output.
Up to 6 Multi units can be operated in parallel to increase output power. For example, six 48/5000/70 units will provide 25 kW / 30 kVA output power and 420 Amps load capacity. In addition to parallel connection, three units of the same model can be configured for three-phase output. But that's not all: up to 6 series of 3 units can be connected in parallel for an inverter output of 75 kW / 90 kVA and over 1200 A of load capacity.
Parameters can be changed in a matter of minutes using VEConfigure software (desktop or laptop computer and MK3-USB interface required).Several control and monitoring options are available: Color Control GX, Venus GX, Octo GX, CANvu GX, desktop or laptop computer, Bluetooth (with optional VE.Bus Smart dongle), battery controller, Multi Control digital control panel.
Install a Color Control GX or other GX product for Internet connection.Operating data can be stored and displayed on our free VRM (Victron Remote Management) website. If systems are connected via Ethernet, they can be accessed and their configuration modified.
Loads that need to be switched off when AC input power is not available can be connected to a second output (not switched off). These loads will be taken into account by thePowerControl and PowerAssist functions to limit the AC input current to a safe value if AC power is available.
The MultiPlus-II will use data from the AC current sensor (to be ordered separately) or from the power meter to optimize self-consumption and, if necessary, avoid feeding energy back into the grid. In the event of a power failure, the MultiPlusII will continue to supply critical loads.
