Specific Information for Belgian Customers - Bebat Tax

As part of our commitment to regulatory compliance and environmental responsibility in Belgium, we wish to inform our customers that the acquisition of a Leapton EL-A16 lithium battery is subject to a mandatory environmental contribution.

An amount of €346.80 excl. VAT must be added for each battery purchased, as a direct contribution to Bebat, the organization in charge of managing batteries and accumulators in Belgium. This measure complies with current Belgian environmental legislation.

Important: When purchasing a lithium battery, please add the corresponding product "Bebat Environmental Contribution Leapton EL-A16" according to the number of batteries you order. Otherwise, we will recalculate and invoice the amount after the purchase.

This tax only applies to Belgian customers.






FAQ - Leapton EL-A16 16kWh Battery

1. How does the integrated heating work and when does it activate? +
The intelligent heating system maintains the cells at an optimal temperature for charging, even in extreme cold (down to -20°C). It is automatically controlled by the BMS. Note: this function requires a compatible inverter capable of providing the necessary energy for preheating, such as the Deye range.
2. What is a prismatic cell and what are its advantages? +
Unlike standard cylindrical cells, Leapton prismatic cells use a rigid aluminum casing that optimizes space and heat dissipation. This architecture reduces internal connections, limiting points of failure, and offers superior mechanical stability for intensive use.
3. What is the difference between nominal energy and usable energy? +
The nominal energy of the EL-A16 is 16 kWh. However, to preserve cell life, the system recommends a depth of discharge (DOD) of 90%. You therefore have a real usable energy of 14.4 kWh to power your home.
4. Can I install the Leapton battery outdoors? +
Yes. Thanks to its IP65 protection rating, the casing is completely dust-tight and protected against water jets. Combined with its heating function, it can be installed in a garage, under a shelter, or in an unheated technical room with complete peace of mind.
5. Is it possible to add more batteries later? +
Absolutely. The design is modular: you can connect up to 15 units in parallel. This allows you to go from 16 kWh storage to over 240 kWh to meet your growing energy needs.
6. Which inverters is this battery compatible with? +
The EL-A16 communicates via CAN and RS485 protocols. It is perfectly compatible with Deye (single-phase and three-phase) inverters, as well as the WKS and Victron ranges. The Smart BMS ensures seamless dialogue to optimize charging cycles.
7. What is the real lifespan of this battery? +
Prismatic LiFePO4 technology offers more than 6,000 cycles at 25°C. In standard daily use, this represents a lifespan of over 15 years. Leapton Solar also guarantees the product for 10 years.
8. Does the Bebat tax apply to my order? +
Only if you reside in Belgium. The Bebat environmental contribution (€346.80 excl. VAT) is a Belgian legal obligation to finance battery recycling. If you order from France or another country, you are not subject to this tax.
