Présentation onduleur ESI Sofar Solar

Sofar 4.6 kW solar inverter: Maximum efficiency and versatility

The Sofar ESI-4.6K-S1 hybrid inverter: 4.6 kW with the peak power of a 7 kW unit

The Sofar Solar ESI-4.6K-S1is the 4,600 W single-phase hybrid inverter in the ESI range, positioned between the ESI-4K-S1 (4,000 W) and the ESI-5K-S1 (5,000 W). It is designed for homes of 90 to 140 m² seeking solar self-consumption with scalable storage. Its most notable specification is its off-grid peak power of 6,900 VA for 10 seconds — 150% of its rated power — making it exceptional for powering appliances with high inrush currents in the event of a power cut. It can operate without a battery from the moment of installation and scale up to 30 kWh of storage without changing the inverter.

What this inverter actually does

  • It converts the energy from your solar panels into 230 V AC electricity with a maximum efficiency of 97.7% and a European efficiency rating of 97.0%
  • It stores surplus energy in a Sofar BTS 400 V high-voltage battery for use in the evening, at night or during a power cut
  • It automatically switches to the battery in the event of a grid outage within 10 ms, with a peak power of 6,900 VA for 10 seconds

With 10 to 14 solar panels (5 to 7 kWp) and a 5 to 10 kWh battery, a house of 90 to 140 m² can achieve 60 to 75% self-consumption, representing an estimated saving of between €650 and €1,050 per year depending on your consumption profile.

6,900 Wp of connectable PV: the highest capacity in its power category

This is the number one technical advantage of this model. With a maximum PV power of 6,900 Wp, the ESI-4.6K-S1 can accommodate proportionally more panels than any other 4–5 kW inverter in the ESI range:

  • 13 to 17 panels of 400–500 Wp distributed across the 2 independent MPPT trackers (range 85–520 V, max 550 V, 16 A per MPPT)
  • PV over-panelling ensures maximum output during periods of low sunlight — mornings, evenings and cloudy days
  • Two independent MPPT controllers allow you to manage two different roof orientations (east/west or south/east) without any loss of efficiency
  • More panels = more kWh generated per year = greater savings on your bill

6,900 VA off-grid peak power: the inverter that never lets you down

In the event of a mains power cut with a battery connected, the ESI-4.6K-S1 can deliver 6,900 VA for 10 seconds — that is 150% of its rated power of 4,600 VA. This is one of the best peak-to-rated power ratios in the ESI range. This reserve allows even the most demanding appliances to start up without difficulty:

  • Fridge and freezer (start-up peak up to 5× the rated power)
  • Washing machines during the start-up and spin cycles
  • Domestic water pump or booster pump
  • Compact electric water heater
  • Central vacuum cleaner or power tool

Sofar BTS high-voltage battery: modern and scalable architecture

The ESI-4.6K-S1 is compatible with the Sofar BTS 5K high-voltage battery system (400 V LiFePO4 CATL):

  • Start with 1 BTS 5Kmodule (5.12 kWh) — enough to cover one night’s energy needs for an average household
  • Add up to 6 modules to reach 30.72 kWh without changing the inverter
  • 400 V high voltage: better conversion efficiency, simplified cabling
  • BMS integrated into each module: comprehensive active and passive protection
  • Max. charge/discharge current: 20 A — perfectly suited to the 4.6 kW power rating

Sofar PowerAll: scalable high-voltage storage

The ESI-4.6K-S1 is designed to work with the Sofar PowerAll system: from 1 to 6 BTS 5K modules (LiFePO4 CATL, integrated BMS, 400 V high voltage) for a total capacity of 5 to 30 kWh, without changing the inverter.
