The Sofar ESI-6.5K-T1: the silent three-phase hybrid inverter with 3 independent MPPT trackers

The Sofar Solar ESI-6.5K-T1 is the 6,500 W three-phase hybrid inverter from the ESI range. It is designed for homes connected to a 400V three-phase supply with an annual consumption of 6,000 to 12,000 kWh, for small businesses requiring uninterrupted power supply, and for any installation with multiple roof sections to be utilised. With 3 fully independent MPPT trackers, an IP66 rating and fanless passive cooling, it is the most versatile and robust choice in the ESI range.

Three-phase 400V: who is it for, and why

In Belgium and France, many detached houses over 150 m², farms, small businesses and apartment blocks are connected to a three-phase 380/400/415V supply. A single-phase inverter in this configuration would only cover one of the three phases — the ESI-6.5K-T1 powers all three simultaneously, which allows:

  • Covering the building’s entire power consumption without phase imbalance
  • Feed back into all three phases if your contract allows it
  • Powering three-phase equipment (heat pump, three-phase EV charger, machine tools) directly from solar generation

3 independent MPPT trackers: maximise the output of every section of the roof

The ESI-6.5K-T1 features 3 fully independent MPPT trackers, each with a dedicated string (25A, range 160–950V, max voltage 1000V). It is the only ESI inverter to offer this architecture, which allows:

  • Connecting 3 different orientations (south, east, west) without cross-shadowing
  • Managing partial shading without the shadow on one string affecting the other two
  • Accept up to 13,000 Wp of panels in total — approximately 26 to 32 panels of 400–500 Wp
  • The use of strings of different lengths on each MPPT depending on the roof configuration

IP66 and passive cooling: robust and silent

The ESI-6.5K-T1 has an IP66 rating — total protection against dust and powerful water jets — superior to the IP65 rating of single-phase models. Combined with its fully passive cooling via natural convection (zero fans), it offers:

  • Silent operation in all circumstances, even at full load
  • Outdoor installation possible under a canopy or in an unheated room
  • Extended service life: the absence of moving parts eliminates the main cause of inverter failure
  • Temperature range: -30°C to +60°C (derating above +45°C)

Compatible battery: Sofar BTS 5K high-voltage

The ESI-6.5K-T1 is compatible with Sofar BTS 5K batteries (LiFePO4 CATL, integrated BMS, 350–435V). From 1 to 6 modules in parallel for a capacity of 5 to 30 kWh — without changing the inverter.

BTS 5K modules Total capacity Typical usage
1 module 5.12 kWh Basic backup, partial night
2 modules 10.24 kWh Full family home
3 to 4 modules 15–20 kWh Large house or small business
5 to 6 modules 25–30 kWh Maximum range, commercial use
