The Sofar Solar HYD8KTL-3PH is the 8 kW three-phase hybrid inverter from the HYD range — the 8 kW version of the HYD 6KTL-3PH, with an EPS peak power of 16,000 VA for 60 seconds. It can be connected in parallel with up to 10 units and its warranty can be extended to 20 years.

The Sofar Solar HYD8KTL-3PH is the 8,000 W three-phase hybrid inverter in the HYD range. It shares the same robust design as the HYD 6KTL-3PH — same housing (571×515×264 mm), same parallel connection capacity of up to 10 units — but with a rated power of 8 kW, a PV capacity of 12,000 Wp and an exceptional EPS peak power of 16,000 VA for 60 seconds. It is designed for large homes, farms and SMEs connected to a 400V three-phase supply requiring maximum backup power.






16 kVA peak UPS for 60 seconds: the most generous backup power in the range

This is the HYD8KTL-3PH’s key advantage over the 6KTL: in UPS mode (battery backup power supply), it can deliver 16,000 VA for 60 seconds — twice its rated power. This reserve allows even the most demanding equipment to be started without difficulty:

  • Three-phase heat pumps and industrial compressors (high inrush current on start-up)
  • Three-phase machine tools in workshops or on farms
  • Multiple simultaneous loads during a mains power cut
  • Three-phase electric vehicle chargers in backup mode
  • Three-phase agricultural ventilation and irrigation systems

Switchover to EPS mode takes less than 10 ms — imperceptible to almost all electronic and industrial equipment.






Can be paralleled with up to 10 inverters: maximum scalability

Up to 10 HYD8KTL-3PH units in parallel on the EPS and AC ports, enabling the creation of a three-phase microgrid of up to 80 kW. Ideal for:

  • It converts solar energy into 230/400V AC three-phase electricity with a maximum efficiency of 98% and MPPT efficiency of 99.9%
  • It stores surplus energy in the connected battery for use in the evening or during a grid outage
  • It automatically switches to EPS mode in the event of a grid outage in <10 ms, with a peak power of 16 kVA for 60 seconds
  • It feeds surplus energy back into the three-phase grid if your contract allows it

With 16 to 24 panels (8 to 12 kWp) and a 10 to 30 kWh battery, a large property or farm can achieve 70 to 85% self-consumption, representing an estimated saving of between €1,200 and €2,500 per year.

Installation

Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Key points:

1. What is the main difference between the 8 kW model and the 6 kW model? +
Although they share the same housing, the HYD8KTL-3PH offers a higher rated power of 8 kW and can manage up to 12,000 Wp of solar panels. Its major advantage is its emergency power supply (EPS), which rises to 16 kVA, compared to 12 kVA for the lower-spec model.
2. Why is the 16 kVA EPS peak power important? +
This power reserve (available for 60 seconds) is crucial for starting up demanding three-phase equipment that requires a high inrush current at start-up, such as heat pumps, industrial compressors or agricultural irrigation systems.
3. What is the response time in the event of a mains power cut? +
The inverter switches to backup mode in less than 10 milliseconds. This delay is so short that it is imperceptible to most devices, ensuring total continuity of service for your electronic and IT equipment.
4. Can I use this inverter for a fully off-grid site? +
Yes, it has a native off-grid mode. It is capable of creating its own stable three-phase microgrid to power farms, workshops or isolated homes without any connection to the public grid.
5. How does the parallel connection of this unit work? +
You can connect up to 10 inverters in parallel via the EPS and AC ports. This allows you to expand the power of your system in 8 kW increments, reaching a total capacity of 80 kW, ideal for growing SMEs or agricultural businesses.
6. What monitoring options are available? +

Yes, thanks to the Time of Use function of the integrated EMS (Energy Management System). You can schedule specific time slots to charge the battery during off-peak hours and use it during peak hours, thereby maximising your financial savings.
8. What are the recommendations for a safe installation? +
Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician on a 230/400V three-phase network. A 4-pole main circuit breaker (min. 20A per phase) is required. For accurate self-consumption management, we strongly recommend adding a Chint DTSU666 meter.
