The Huawei SUN2000-5KTL-L1: a silent 5 kW inverter, the most powerful in the L1 range
The Huawei SUN2000-5KTL-L1 is the 5,000 W single-phase hybrid inverter in the L1 range — the most powerful model in the series. It is designed for homes of 100 to 160 m² with an annual consumption of 4,000 to 7,000 kWh. It shares the key features of the SUN2000-4.6KTL-L1: 98.4% efficiency, fanless passive cooling and a weight of just 12 kg — but with 7,500 Wp of connectable panels, 600 Wp more than the 4.6K, to make the most of a larger roof area.
What this inverter actually does
- It converts the energy from your solar panels into 230V AC electricity with a maximum efficiency of 98.4% — the best in the wattuneed.com hybrid range
- It stores the surplus in a high-voltage Huawei Luna 2000 battery for use in the evening or at night
- It monitors your installation in real time via the FusionSolar app, with built-in Wi-Fi at no extra cost
- It feeds surplus energy back into the grid if your contract allows it
With 12 to 15 solar panels (6 to 7.5 kWp) and a 5 to 15 kWh Luna 2000 battery, a house of 100 to 160 m² can achieve 65 to 78% self-consumption, representing an estimated saving of between €750 and €1,150 per year.
5 kW: the Synergrid single-phase power limit in Belgium
In Belgium, Synergrid regulations limit the power of single-phase inverters connected to the grid to 5,000 VA. The SUN2000-5KTL-L1 is exactly at this limit — it is the most powerful Huawei inverter that can be installed in a single-phase system with feed-in to the Belgian grid. If you wish to exceed 5 kW, you will need to switch to three-phase.

7,500 Wp of connectable PV: up to 18 panels
With a maximum PV power of 7,500 Wp, the SUN2000-5KTL-L1 supports approximately 15 to 18 panels of 400–500 Wp, distributed across its 2 independent MPPT trackers (range 90–560V, max 600V, 12.5A per MPPT). This PV oversizing compared to the nominal power of 5 kW (ratio 1.5×) ensures maximum output even during periods of low sunlight.
98.4% efficiency and passive cooling: Huawei’s two key strengths
The SUN2000-5KTL-L1 shares with the 4.6K the two key features of the L1 range:
- 98.4% efficiency: only 1.6% energy lost during conversion, compared to 2.3–2.4% for competing inverters. Out of 6,000 kWh generated per year, this represents an additional 40–50 kWh recovered at no extra cost
- Fanless natural convection: completely silent operation, even at full load. Extended lifespan (fans are the main cause of failure). Weight reduced to 12 kg — wall mounting by a single person
Compatible battery: the Huawei Luna 2000 ecosystem
The SUN2000-5KTL-L1 is exclusively compatible with Huawei Luna 2000 high-voltage batteries. It is a closed system — no third-party batteries can be connected.

Up to 3 Luna 2000-5-S0 modules can be stacked to achieve a total capacity of 15 kWh.
⚠️ Important: the LUNA2000-5kW-CO power module is required to activate the backup power supply in the event of a grid outage. Without this module, the inverter will shut down during an outage (standard anti-islanding protection).
Monitoring: FusionSolar
Wi-Fi is built into the inverter — no additional dongle is required for basic monitoring. The FusionSolar app (iOS / Android) allows you to:
- View real-time production, consumption and battery status
- Check your daily, monthly and annual savings
- Diagnose faults remotely
- Manage multiple installations from a single account
Additional options (optional): Smart Ethernet Dongle (WLAN-FE) for wired connection, Smart 4G/3G/2G Dongle for areas without Wi-Fi.
Installation
Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Key points:
