The Levtech wireless RS485 transmitter (LSP-STR-485) is the ultimate technological solution for replacing wired Modbus RTU connections between photovoltaic inverters and energy meters. Using the 868 MHz frequency, this device offers much better obstacle penetration than Wi-Fi, ensuring stable and secure data transmission without having to dig trenches or drill through walls.

One system, three versions to suit your project:

  • 100m version (Residential): Designed for single-family homes and standard local connections.
  • 400m version (Extended Residential/Pro): Ideal for large properties and environments with multiple concrete walls.
  • 800m version (Industrial/Agricultural): Maximum power for cluttered industrial sites, metal hangars or ground-mounted solar parks.

Why choose it? This Plug & Play system comes pre-paired for immediate commissioning. It is fully compatible with the market leaders in solar energy: Deye, WKS, Victron Energy, Fronius, SMA, etc. It is an essential tool for installers to reduce labour costs and simplify the configuration of energy management and zero injection systems.

Three versions for every need

Adapt your installation according to distance and environment:

  • 100-metre version – Residential use: Ideal for a standard house where the meter and inverter are separated by a few walls or a small garden.
  • 400-metre version – Extended residential & tertiary use: Designed for large properties, farms or buildings with thick walls. Offers increased penetration power.
  • 800-metre version – Industrial use: The high-performance solution for factories, logistics warehouses or ground-mounted solar parks. Maximises signal stability in congested environments.

How the Levtech wireless RS485 transmitter works

The LSP-STR-485 is a radio wave signal transmitter designed to establish wireless communication between two devices using the RS485/Modbus protocol.

Simple and scalable installation

  • Point-to-Point Mode: For a standard connection, two units are required: one configured as a transmitter and the other as a receiver.
  • Multi-device network: If your system includes several devices, a single module at the processing unit (PC or UPS) is sufficient to control up to 254 slave devices simultaneously.
  • Transparent Communication: Once installed, the modules enable wireless communication via radio waves as if your devices were connected by a physical cable.

Wiring: Simplified installation

The transducer connection has been designed for quick integration into your electrical cabinets.

  • Power supply: The transducer uses 230V AC, allowing for easy installation in any electrical cabinet.
  • Mains connection: Power is supplied via the connector located at the bottom of the box.
  • Data connection: The RS485 signal wires (GND, A, B) are connected at the top.
  • Technical tip: If communication fails, the A and B wires can be interchanged.
  • Signal quality: It is recommended to use twisted pair wires for the communication lines between the transducer and the remote device.

Expert programming of the RS485 transducer

The LSP-STR-485 is configured via a simple and precise interface, allowing you to adjust the device to your specific needs.

Equipment required for configuration:

  • Hardware: A laptop and a USB-RS485 converter.
  • Software: The free PuTTY software must be installed on your computer.

Configuration steps:

  1. Connection: Connect the device as shown in the wiring diagram.
  2. Accessing the menu: Follow the instructions to access the programming menu via PuTTY.
  3. Available settings: The configuration menu allows you to change the following essential settings:
    • Communication channel (Channel).
    • Identifiers (Remote ID, Local ID, Network ID).
    • Security key (Key).
    • Transmission settings (Baud rate, Parity, Stop bit).

Once the settings have been adjusted, simply select the restart option to apply the new configurations.

Why choose the Levtech wireless transmitter?

1. Ultra-fast plug-and-play installation

The modules arrive pre-paired from the factory. Simply connect them to a 230V power supply and connect terminals A and B. No complex software configuration is required.

2. Ultra-penetrating 868 MHz radio technology

Unlike Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), which quickly becomes saturated and has a short range, the 868 MHz frequency penetrates obstacles (concrete, metal, slabs) more easily and guarantees smooth communication without interference with your internet network.

3.Universal Modbus RTU compatibility

This system is transparent: it transmits data without modifying it. It is compatible with:

  • Inverters: Deye, WKS, Victron, Fronius, SMA, etc.
  • Energy meters: DTSU666, Victron ET112/ET340.

Our expert advice:

Running a shielded cable between a charging station or inverter and the main electrical panel can account for 40% of an installer's working time. With the Levtech transmitter, you can reduce this time to 10 minutes while ensuring the same measurement accuracy as with a wired connection.

FAQ - Levtech Wireless RS485 Connection

1. Is this transmitter compatible with my inverter and Smart Meter? +
Yes, it is 100% universal. This device uses a transparent Modbus-RTU protocol. It functions as a "virtual cable" between your devices. It is compatible with all major brands: Huawei, Victron Energy, Fronius, SMA, Solis, Growatt, and many others.
2. Which version should I choose: 100m, 400m or 800m? +
The choice depends on the distance and obstacles. For a single-family home (garage/panel connection), the 100m model is sufficient. If you have very thick walls or a long distance, opt for the 400m model. The 800m model is recommended for industrial or agricultural sites with dense metal structures.
3. Can the radio signal pass through concrete slabs and walls? +
Absolutely. Unlike Wi-Fi, this transmitter uses the 868 MHz frequency, which has excellent penetration capacity through building materials. If the signal is too weak, you can also move the antenna outside the electrical box using the SMA connector.
4. Is it difficult for an individual to configure? +
It is a plug-and-play solution. The two modules are already paired with each other at the factory. There is no software to install: just connect the power supply (230V) and data wires (A/B) and communication starts instantly.
5. Can multiple systems be installed on the same site? +
Yes, without any problem. Each pair has its own secure communication channel. You can therefore install several pairs on the same installation without any risk of interference or data mixing.
6. What is the power consumption of the device? +
The module is extremely energy efficient, consuming less than 1W. It can be connected in parallel to the circuit breaker on your UPS or Smart Meter without overloading your electrical panel.
