Marstek Venus-E-GEN-3.0 lithium battery – 51.2 V LiFePO4 5.12 kWh – Plug & Play AC
Storing your solar energy without changing your setup: that’s exactly what the Venus E 3.0 does
The Marstek Venus E Gen 3.0 is a 5.12 kWh AC-coupled home storage system that connects directly to your home’s 230 V mains supply. Unlike conventional DC batteries, which require a dedicated hybrid inverter, the Venus E 3.0 works with any existing photovoltaic system — rooftop panels, ground-mounted panels, micro-inverters, grid-connected inverters — without any modification to the existing system. A single cable is all that is needed to get it up and running.
With a built-in 2,500 W bidirectional inverter, LiFePO4 cells guaranteeing over 6,000 cycles at 80% residual capacity, and an AI-driven optimisation mode, this battery is designed for households wishing to maximise their solar self-consumption, reduce their reliance on the grid, and have a reliable backup power supply in the event of a power cut.

A redesigned all-in-one format for the third generation
The Venus E Gen 3.0 represents a significant evolution from its predecessor. The case volume has been reduced by 38.5% and the weight reduced by 7.4%, with dimensions of 480 × 624 × 153 mm. The die-cast aluminium chassis now features integrated side handles for easier handling, whereas the previous model required these to be fitted separately. The rounded edges and sleek lines allow for discreet integration in both a technical room and a living space.
Operation remains quiet thanks to natural convection cooling, without a fan, with a noise level below 30 dB. The IP65-certified enclosure allows for installation both indoors and outdoors, within a temperature range of -20 °C to +60 °C.
Plug & Play AC: plug in, configure, store
Installing the Venus E 3.0 simply involves plugging it into a dedicated 230 V socket or connecting it to the fuse box via a residual current device (RCD). No special tools are required, and no rewiring of the existing solar installation is needed. The system is operational within minutes.
An important point to note: the on-grid output power is set to 800 W by default. It can be increased up to 2,500 W via the Marstek app, subject to compliance with the requirements of the local grid operator. In Belgium, this power increase is generally possible by connecting the battery via a dedicated 3 x 2.5 mm² cable to a 16 A circuit breaker. In France, the feed-in power is governed by current safety standards.
Smart energy management
The Venus E 3.0 offers four operating modes that can be configured via the Marstek mobile app (iOS and Android). Self-consumption mode maximises the use of solar energy generated during the day by feeding it back into the grid in the evening. AI mode (AI Optimization) goes a step further: it analyses your consumption habits, the battery charge level and weather forecasts to automatically plan charge and discharge cycles. This mode utilises real-time dynamic tariffs via platforms such as Nord Pool, Tibber or Octopus Energy — a tangible benefit in Belgium with the roll-out of digital meters and capacity-based tariffs. TOU Scheduling mode allows you to manually programme charging (off-peak) and discharging (peak) time slots. Finally, manual mode offers complete control.
For optimal control, a smart meter is required. Marstek offers two dedicated models: the CT002 (clamp meter) and the CT003 (P1 Meter). The Venus E 3.0 is also compatible with recognised third-party meters: Shelly Pro 3EM, HomeWizard P1 and Everhome Ecotracker.
Backup and emergency power supply
In the event of a mains power cut, the Venus E 3.0 automatically switches to standalone power supply with a switchover time of less than 15 ms. A dedicated emergency power socket (EPS) integrated into the unit provides up to 2,500 W of power to supply priority appliances: fridge, internet router, lighting, medical equipment. To cover the entire home in the event of a prolonged power cut, Marstek offers an optional Smart Box that enables a whole-house backup when several units are operating in parallel.
Connectivity and home automation integration
The Venus E Gen 3.0 features four communication interfaces: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LAN (RJ45) and RS485. The LAN port is a new feature of this third generation, offering stable, interference-free wired communication — particularly useful in homes with thick walls or in environments saturated with wireless signals. For advanced users, an open API and the Modbus protocol allow integration into home automation systems such as Home Assistant or ioBroker. However, Marstek does not provide support for these third-party integrations.
Scalability
The Venus E 3.0 can be deployed on its own or in parallel to increase available capacity and power. In a single-phase configuration, up to three units can be connected, bringing the total capacity to 15.36 kWh and the power to 7.5 kW. In a three-phase configuration (three units per phase), the system reaches 46.08 kWh and 22.5 kW. Expansion depends on the capacity of the property’s electrical connection — it is recommended that you consult a qualified electrician before adding units.
For which projects
The Venus E 3.0 is suitable for a range of installation scenarios. The most common scenario is a house fitted with solar panels and micro-inverters or a grid-connected inverter, where the battery stores surplus energy for evening consumption rather than selling it back to the grid at a low rate. It is also suitable for flats fitted with a balcony solar kit — the Plug & Play connection really comes into its own here. In second homes or lightweight accommodation (mobile homes, tiny houses), the battery provides partial self-sufficiency without the need for heavy infrastructure. Finally, for households primarily seeking a power cut backup, the integrated EPS socket covers essential needs without complex installation.
Compared to modular solutions such as the Zendure SolarFlow or Anker Solarbank, the Venus E 3.0 offers a structural advantage: 5.12 kWh of capacity and 2,500 W of power from the very first unit, without an external micro-inverter or the need to stack modules. The cost per kWh is around €234/kWh at current prices, making it one of the most competitive offerings in the Plug & Play battery segment.
