A BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) is a large-scale energy storage solution designed for businesses, commercial buildings, industrial sites and high-consumption installations. Unlike residential batteries targeting overnight self-consumption, an industrial BESS is managed by an Energy Management System (EMS) that optimises charge and discharge in real time based on grid tariffs, PV production and process requirements.

1. Peak shaving

Often the fastest return on investment. Your grid contract includes a subscribed power whose overrun triggers penalties. The BESS stores energy during low-consumption periods and delivers it during peaks — keeping your drawn power below the contractual threshold.
