Operating modes

A. Energy management unit

This control can be used to switch the inverter on/off via an external (remote) control.

B. Network reactive power supply

The inverter is capable of producing reactive power and can therefore inject it into the grid by adjusting the phase shift factor. Injection management can be controlled directly by the grid operator via a dedicated RS485 serial interface.

C. Limiting the active power injected into the grid

If enabled, the inverter can limit the amount of active power injected into the grid by the inverter to the desired value (expressed as a percentage).

D. Auto-reduction of power when the grid is overfrequent

When the grid frequency is higher than the limited value, the inverter reduces the output power, which is necessary for grid stability.

E. Data transmission

The inverter or a group of inverters can be remotely monitored using an advanced communication system based on the RS-485 serial interface, or remotely via WIFI/GPRS.

F. Software update

What is the difference between the Sofar 2700TL-G3 and the 2200TL-G3, and which one to choose?
The 2700TL-G3 delivers 2,700 W — 23% more than the 2200TL-G3 (2,200 W). It accepts up to 3,700 Wp of panels (versus 3,000 Wp), its maximum output current is 13 A (versus 10.6 A), and its MPPT range is extended to 550 V (versus 500 V for all other models in the range). It is also slightly larger (321 × 260.5 × 131.5 mm versus 303 × 260.5 × 118 mm) and heavier (6.3 kg versus 5.5 kg). The annual production difference is approximately 400 to 600 kWh depending on your location. Choose the 2200TL-G3 for an installation of 8 panels on a single orientation; choose the 2700TL-G3 if you have 9 to 10 panels or high-voltage Voc modules (above 45 V) that require the extended MPPT range up to 550 V.
How many panels can be connected to the 2700TL-G3 and what is the logic of oversizing to 3,700 Wp?
The 2700TL-G3 accepts a maximum recommended PV power of 3,700 Wp — an oversizing ratio of approximately 137% relative to its nominal power of 2,700 W. This configuration typically corresponds to 8–9 panels of 415–460 Wp in series, or 7 panels of 530 Wp. The MPPT range extends from 50 to 550 V with a 70 V start voltage and a maximum input current of 12 A. This oversizing is economically justified as it allows more production during low-irradiance hours — morning, evening, and overcast days — without risk to the inverter, which simply clips output to 2,700 W when PV power exceeds its limit. Over a year, a ratio of 1.37 can increase production by 5 to 15% compared to a strict 1:1 ratio.
Why is the extended MPPT range up to 550 V of the 2700TL-G3 advantageous?
The 1100TL, 1600TL, and 2200TL models in the G3 range have an MPPT range limited to 500 V. The 2700TL-G3 is the only model in the range to offer an extended range up to 550 V.
