The Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC is an isolated battery charger for use in dual battery systems incorporated in vehicles or boats, where the (intelligent) alternator and starter battery are used to recharge the service battery. The unit can be supervised and programmed via Bluetooth, and can be remotely controlled using a remote on/off switch. It also features a mechanism for detecting whether the engine is running or not.
The Orion Tr-Smart charger can be used in 12 or 24 V systems, and is suitable for both lead-acid and lithium batteries. Models are available up to 400 W, and an unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel to increase power output.
These chargers can be operated in temperatures up to 55°C, with full rated output down to 40°C.
Smartphones, tablets and other Bluetooth-enabled devices can be used to monitor the charger, modify its settings and update it if new software functions become available.
- For lead-acid batteries, it's important to keep absorption times short during partial discharges, to avoid overcharging the battery. After a deep discharge, the absorption time is automatically increased to ensure the battery is fully recharged. - For lithium batteries, the absorption time is fixed at 2 hours by default. - Alternatively, a fixed output voltage can be selected.
The integrated engine-stop detection function will stop the inverter when the engine is not running. This prevents accidental discharge of the starter battery (see manual for details).
A remote on/off switch or relay contact can be connected to a two-pole connector. Alternatively, the H terminal (right) of the two-pole connector can be switched to the positive battery terminal; or the L terminal (left) of the two-pole connector can be switched to the negative battery terminal (or the chassis of a vehicle, for example).
An unlimited number of units can be connected in parallel.
Output current will be reduced at high ambient temperatures.
If installed with screw terminals facing downwards.
No special tools are required for installation. Input fuse (non-replaceable)
